The top minds of the corporate world will be discussing topics like ‘Relating real-world data with theoretical concepts’ and ‘extracting worthy information about economic policy issues from the available data’ for a week. These discussions will take place in our very own University campus. And all the credit goes to University School of Management Studies.

One of the most forward-looking and dynamic B-Schools in Delhi, USMS offers management programmes which concentrate on the sensitivity expected from the future managers towards the changing aspirations of the community in a rapidly evolving technological environment. It conducts weekend courses even for the working professionals. The one week workshop on “BASIC ECONOMETRICS” is an example of the college’s modern outlook and the pedagogical efforts of the college staff.

The workshop will commence on the 19th of December, 2014 with the introductory welcome session, and the day would go on with the discussion about the basics of econometrics and ’least regression’. The attendees of the workshop will be attending sessions on issues relating to Univariate Time Series Modelling , Cointegration and Vector Autoregression Model and topics, likewise. The guests also get to participate in the practical sessions and the valedictory sessions planned for them. There would be a Panel and Data Analysis on the last day of the workshop for the participants.

The key highlights of the workshop such as

  • Hands on training sessions on data handling, analyzing and deriving preliminary results
  • Sessions with varied software including EVIEWS, R, etc
  • Practice session with model exercises.
  • Discussion on the underlying assumptions of the statistical tools.
  • Discussion on common errors in research.
  • Discussion on the interpretations of results and presentation.
  • Discussion on publication in impact-factor journals
  • Discussion on author index

These points intend to achieve the purpose of getting the students acquainted with the know-how of data handling and analysis techniques; application of econometric techniques in academia and research; and the practical applications of Time Series Econometrics using EVIEWS.

The audience of the workshop is expected to be comprised of faculty members, research scholars and participants from the corporate world. A maximum of 25 participants will be shortlisted but only after they register for the workshop, paying the nominal participation fee. A pool of experts from IITs, IIMs and NITs would be delivering the course content during the workshop.
